I got maybe 4 hours of sleep last night, and my tummy is full of chicken tenders and fries and mustard, both regular and honey, so in the interests of preserving any mental function that remains I have decided to forego any original thinking (shocking!) and just post a couple of trailers from movies that I want to see and that have a good chance of slipping under the radar. Goddamnit I wish I was sleeping.
I have heard rumblings of a Sigur Ros live DVD for some time now, an exciting prospect after moronically missing what was apparently an incredible show at the Strathmore, but this one seems to be a bit more than that. Haven't been able to glean much from the intertubes, but it appears from the trailer that it documents a series of smaller shows that the band did in Iceland after an extensive world tour intercut with scenes - breathtaking scenes, no less - from their native country. And backed by some seriously awesome music, natch. Anyway, definite must for any fan of Sigur Ros, which if you have the refined taste to be reading this blog I'm sure you are. Plus the lead singer's a big 'mo. Note that the image above links to the absolutely gorgeous QT trailer - considered posting a youtube version, but didn't want to shortchange the visuals. The same applies for the below. Also note that while trying to find an image of the poster - I eventually just ganked it from the website - I stumbled across a blog that featured several attractive Scandinavian men that, while in an unintelligible language (Icelandic, I'm assuming), had pictures of them swimming in tiny underwear and apparently blow-drying their genitals in a public bathroom. I'll let you track that down yourselves.
Ian Curtis biopic - seriously now, how fucking hot is that? For those so woefully uninformed, Manchester begat Ian Curtis, Ian Curtis begat Joy Division, Joy Division and a whole shitload of other issues begat Ian Curtis's suicide, Ian Curtis's suicide+remaining members of Joy Division begat New Order - that's all you really need to know. Well, that and that this movie looks like it's going to kick some serious ass, and critical consensus appears to be in line with this little theory of mine. Limited release stateside on Oct 10, so be sure to hit up your faggiest local multiplex. Oh, forgot to mention, no release date as of yet for the Sigur Ros DVD - bollocks!
