Do me a favor and watch this clip:



Then tell me how in the hell Control didn't get at least nominated for best cinematography. Or perhaps a directorial nod to Anton Corbijn, who, based on his experience with photographing Joy Division and on the relative inexperience of the cinematographer and art director, was almost singularly responsible for the the starkly beautiful, photographic look of the film? And hell, what about Sam Riley? Anyone with a passing knowledge of the band should be in awe of his portrayal, especially onstage, of Ian Curtis. To wit:



Sure, it may not have been the greatest movie of 2007 - Ian Curtis/Joy Division were no doubt interesting, just not in a way that made for consistently excellent narrative structure - but seriously guys, you totally dropped the ball on this one.
