i'm not here_this isn't happening

Note that I would've posted this a lot earlier if I wasn't busy geeking the fuck out - and preordering! - all morning. Anyway, a while back I wrote a post solely to lament the status of the new Radiohead album. Then known only as LP7, the album, though apparently finished, had an expected release date of sometime in 2008, much to the dismay of myself and millions of other fans. Soon after that, guitarist Johnny Greenwood released a statement saying that the album was DEFINITELY finished and that they were trying to figure out what to do with it (presumably in 2008). Greenwood though made another statement this morning - well, late last night stateside - that not only did the album have a title, In Rainbows, but that it would be available for download on NEXT FUCKING WEDNESDAY, October 10th, with the following tracklist:

15 STEP
BODYSNATCHERS
NUDE
WEIRD FISHES/ARPEGGI
ALL I NEED
FAUST ARP
RECKONER
HOUSE OF CARDS
JIGSAW FALLING INTO PLACE (also known as Open Pick)
VIDEOTAPE

More on that later. And not only would it be available for download next week, it would be available at whatever price one sees fit, that is, I could pay 50p if I damn well please [full disclosure: I didn't - I'm not that fucking cheap]. I can't overemphasize how thrilling it is to not only see such a popular, exalted band give a solid "fuck you" to the recording industry, but for it to be my favorite band of all time? Fucking shit! Anyway, along with the "donation-based" download the band will also be selling an 40gbp discbox that includes two enhanced CDs - the main album, and another disc which includes "Bangers & Mash" and "4 Minute Warning", the two songs I was sad to see not available for download - a copy of the album on vinyl, artwork, etc, which, despite it's rather high (but worth it!) price, I will most certainly be purchasing. This is big news people, not only for Radiohead fans (ZOMFG NEW ALBUM!!!!1111!!! FTW) but for the music industry as a whole. It'll be interesting to see if we get more out of this than one surely incredible album.

And btw, this announcement has definitely solidified my plans. If I don't have have a rather curious looking bear permanently emblazoned somewhere on my upper back by next Wednesday, something has gone horrible awry.
