to do or not to do?

I've made my position on tattoos pretty clear on this blog, that is, I don't have anything against them and indeed I often find them quite attractive, but I've never had any real desire to have one myself. However, this morning, Anna, my eternal soulmate, suggested that perhaps I should maybe consider getting one, which got me thinking, hey, sounds like fun, maybe I should get one. Elaborating on this idea, I've always maintained that if I did it'd have to be something really cool and/or that I really feel passionately about, and there's always one thing I end up coming back to that fits both those criteria.

If you know me in the slightest this really shouldn't surprise you, since I am kind of a pathetic Radiohead fanboy. Plus it looks totally cool, right? Perhaps on the upper arm? Shoulder blade? Anyway, this is probably the first time in my life that I've actually considered doing this - thanks Anna! - so I'd like to get some feedback from my adoring public. Also, the alternate design would be a tri-force, but that's maybe a bit TOO geeky. Though fucking cool as shit.

On a related note, on googling "radiohead tattoo" I came back with this on the first page.

Are you serious? An Eames Lounge Chair tattoo? That's like the nerdiest/lamest/coolest thing I've seen in my entire life. Bravo - that takes some serious/a lack of balls.

Funny--the way she tells it, you are insistent on getting one and she merely listened.

For crying out loud, don't get a Radiohead tatoo... especially on your forearm. The last time I checked you were neither 16 nor tough nor a skater nor a graf writer.

The tone of that message was mean and I apologize. But do you want to be sitting around ten years from now trying to figure out how to transform the chinese letters on your back into something meaningful? Not that I know any... thing about... that.

I love you Stuart and if you want to get a tattoo of a homosexual private part then I would still support you because you are my bff. You are truley a beautiful man.

What exactly makes a private part homosexual?

usually another private part of the same name. And I, too, have contemplated getting that tattoo and the lyrics "For a minutre there, I lost myself" or "Wake from your sleep..."
