...to the post before last, specifically in regards to the The Lives of Others. While watching that film one cannot help but be moved by the performance of Ulrich Mühe as Gerd Wiesler, the Stasi agent around whom the film's narrative revolves. It was with great dismay then that, on reading an interview with Lives director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck on EW.com, I discovered that Mühe died of stomach cancer a little over a month ago at the age of 54. I admittedly haven't seen any of his work outside of this film, but if his performance here is any indication of his talent, then I mourn the loss of an absolutely incredible actor.
Anyway, off to Netflix to see if I can track down any of his stuff to add to my grossly-inflated queue. And again, I highly recommend The Lives of Others - engrossing story, impressive acting, and truly fantastic set design. And the director's commentary is pretty sweet as well. Enjoy.

"Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck" is clearly a make-believe name.
