something special

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the amount of awesome music coming out of Sweden these days is mindblowing. This time it’s Air France, a band whose sound has more in common with the somewhat mellow, sample-based pop of fellow Gothenburg-ers Jens Lekman and The Tough Alliance than with the icy, electronic sounds of Stockholm based artists The Knife and The Field. As such it’s a total summer record, one that, for a moment, makes me forget about the miserable, stagnant heat that typifies summer in DC and takes me far away to some glorious Swedish beach where I am, ideally, checking out cute boys with my BFFs Robyn and Lykke Li.
