great news, borne on the naked backs of murdered men

I'm pretty sure the only thing I've seen Gerard Butler in is the rather craptastic Phantom of the Opera, but I'm still excited to hear the announcement that he'll be voicing the main character in Tales of the Black Freighter, the comic-within-a-comic from The Watchmen which will be appearing on the DVD of Zack Snyder's cinematic adaptation. It's not so much Butler's appearance that is so awesome, for, as I said, I don't know much of his work, but that this pretty much confirms that we will indeed be seeing an animated version of the decidedly twisted tale. According to the article on empireonline.com, it will be done in anime style, a definite departure from the original drawings, and according to myself, I'm fucking geeking out over here. In conclusion, if you don't realize how great all of this is it means you haven't read The Watchmen. Fix that. NOW.
