i seen a rainbow yesterday

So the endlessly entertaining Icelandic/Danish artist Olafur Eliasson is apparently bringing his nack for creating ridiculously awesome monumental art installations to the US, with a series of "waterfalls" planned for the East River, including ones on the Brooklyn Bridge (pictured) and Roosevelt Island.

I've known about this for a few days now, but am only now realizing that this gives me another chance to indulge in what could easily be described as one of my favorite hobbies: discoursing on the sheer beauty that was The Weather Project, Eliasson's addition to the Unilever series in Tate Modern's Turbine Hall. And by discoursing I mean just posting pictures, 'cause it's just way too fucking hard to put into words the experience of seeing that shit firsthand.

The fact that it was temporary, and that it will never be seen again, makes me almost sad enough to overwhelm the smug satisfaction of actually being there in person. Suckers.
